Update installed at Queen's University, Belfast
Queen's University, Belfast, have upgraded their Merlin MP520 Engineering Flight Simulator.
Merlin have recently installed a computer update, replacing the main flight simulation and graphics PCs with the latest high performance PC systems to enhance the flight simulation fidelity of the Engineering Flight Simulator. A "Masters" student is currently developing a simulation that will be used in conjunction with the University STEM outreach to schools to increase their pupils awareness of the breadth of engineering.
The upgrade included a separate PC loaded with the proprietary Merlin global datapool and Merlin's sFUN application. The sFUN facility links the Merlin global datapool to Matlab/Simulink©, which enables the University to expand the use of the Merlin MP520 to students of control systems engineering.
Overall the upgrade has significantly increased the depth and breadth of the Merlin MP520 to contribute to the learning experience of the Engineering students at Queen's University, Belfast.
